DST is the short form of Daylight saving time. It is named DST in Australia, US and Canada while in the UK and European Union it is called ST ( Summertime). In 1784 an American Polymath Benjamin Franklin proposed the idea that clocks must be forwarded by an hour in the warm season to get people to wake early, as it will reduce the consumption of candles at night and make a lot of saving of candles.
Since then, this idea is being used in many developed countries to save energy. This DST is used in a minor portion of the world and the majority of the world including Asia, Africa and countries near the equator does not use these time changes.
Usually, the clocks are forwarded by an hour in the Spring season which is often referred to as " Spring forward " and Clocks go back by an hour to resume at a standard time in the Autumn season which is termed as "fall back".
When does daylight savings end and clocks go back to standard time?
